WARNING!
Alex Giauque Loss Prevention Blog 0
Warning! ISS cautions clients from buying from companies with no physical office address. We’ve received some calls about sellers of security products using mail/copy center box numbers posing as suite numbers. They tend to ship INFERIOR QUALITY PRODUCTS. Be sure and do your homework on who owns and runs the company. If they don’t list their names, they are hiding something!

Death of the Salesmen: Technology’s Threat to Retail Jobs The decline of big-box retail and department stores could also mark the fall of retail as a job engine. Throughout the 20th century, American stores were the locus of low-skilled employment. The total retail workforce tripled between 1940 and 2000, and for much of the century, the sector employed more people than construction and health care combined. Even today, the two most common occupations in America, by a wide margin, are retail salesperson and cashier. Last year, 7.6 million people held those jobs—more than the total number of workers in Florida.

19 retailers line up against Visa-MasterCard accord. Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and Starbucks Corp. are among 19 retailers opting out of a $7.25 billion antitrust settlement with Visa Inc. and MasterCard Inc. over fees charged to merchants to process credit-card transactions. The proposed settlement would maintain and strengthen an anticompetitive system that allows Visa and MasterCard to fix so-called swipe fees for banks, the companies said Tuesday. “It would allow credit card companies and big banks to perpetuate an unfair and broken system that costs all consumers,” Mike Cook, senior vice president of finance for Wal-Mart, said in a statement. Loss Prevention Standards
Alex Giauque Loss Prevention Blog 0
The general theme when we establish standards in operational procedures is to establish expectations, develop consistency in execution and improve performances in all operations. Key elements in setting standards should include: Integrity; Accountability; Efficiency and Simplicity. To provide an appropriate level of protection for assets and associates, your physical security standards and processes should be met in the day-to-day administration of security programs and equipment. Check The Basics! Are critical keys accounted for? Are cameras on target and focused? Alarms working properly? Stores opening and closing on time? Banking done safely and regularly?
